The format for the 2011 Farming Futures was that students spend 40 minutes in each of four information areas and take part in one pre-booked workshop session throughout the day.
This area concentrated on careers involved in arable and livestock farming from mechanical engineering to animal management. This area also included information relating to the opportunities involved in the equestrian industry.
The Food Production area looked at all areas of food production from being out in the field to putting products on the table. It included careers in horticulture, viticulture, food processing and the hospitality industry.
Woodland and Countryside Management covered all areas of managing and maintaining the countryside. This featured careers such as arboriculture, tree surgery, groundwork and landscape/garden design.
Plan Your Future was the central area to the event. This area gave all students the opportunity to discuss with local colleges, apprentice schemes, business partnerships and business advice providers the best way to achieve a career in the land based sector.
